In 2018, Patrice Pauly decided to start from scratch. After a busy career and numerous trips around the world, he embarked on an ambitious project: to create an exceptional place in the Dordogne, far removed from the restrictive norms of traditional hospitality. A luxury lodging experience that is free-spirited, warm, and true to his vision.
And so Escapades en Périgord was born, with the opening of its first two luxury vacation rentals in Eymet and Monbazillac. Then, in 2022, after four years of construction, the project took on a new dimension: Le Domaine des Hauts de Rouquette, a 5-star residential resort, opened its doors in Eymet with three lodges and an annex. Each accommodation features a private pool, sauna, steam room, and spa for the duration of the stay.
A prestigious venue in a designated historic site
The Domaine des Hauts de Rouquette does more than simply offer exceptional comfort: it is located within a designated historic site, subject to the requirements of the Architecte des Bâtiments de France. This setting demands materials that are worthy of the location, which naturally led Patrice to choose ORSOL.
“I wanted a luxurious yet natural touch both indoors and outdoors. Given the many vacation rentals in the area, we wanted to stand out with a high-quality finish, and the Causse cladding evokes the stone found in the vineyards right next door. ” — Patrice Pauly, founder of Escapades en Périgord
Causse ORSOL Wall Cladding: The Elegance of ORSOL Stone
To create a warm, contemporary contrast between the spaces, Patrice chose to combine two premium materials: wood and Causse d’ORSOL siding in a natural finish. This blend of textures defines the visual identity of each lodge, both inside and out.
The ORSOL Neomineral cladding, approved by the Architecte des Bâtiments de France, offers the visual authenticity of natural Quercy stone combined with the advantages of a lightweight, durable, and certified solution. Its mineral appearance and natural stone color blend seamlessly into the Périgord landscape, evoking the low vineyard walls that line the estate.
Each lodge has its own decorative style, but they all share the same design elements: the same floor area, a similar layout, and the same stone exterior, which invites guests to return and discover a different atmosphere with each stay.
Installation entrusted to a trusted local craftsman
The work was carried out by Xavier Grezel, a mason and roofer based in Saint-Agne (Lot-et-Garonne), whom Patrice trusts for the quality of his work and the care he takes with every detail of the installation.
“I am very pleased with the Causse collection from ORSOL, and I would like to thank our mason, Xavier Grezel of Maçons Couvreurs, for the installation.”
A loyalty that has lasted for more than 10 years
This isn’t Patrice’s first project with ORSOL. More than ten years ago, he used ORSOL products to clad his own home. This renewed trust has led to an ongoing project for the future: cladding a well on the estate’s grounds, again using the Causse collection.
